For Nautilus Sailing Camp, I developed an engaging theme that captures the attention of an adult audience and communicates the week-long sailing excursion as an adventurous and experiential learning experience.
The Nautilus Sailing camp needed a theme for the year. It needed to show the adventurous week-long sailing training camp that they offered for adults. My role was to come up with a theme and design elements to correspond with it and provide opportunities for engagement.
My goal was to approach the project in a way that didn’t showcase the stereotypical nautical graphic elements. The design should both balance adventure and restoration. The typefaces chosen can resemble both sides of this spectrum.
TYPEFACE IDEATIONS AND INITIAL SKETCHES
I developed an engaging theme that felt adventurous, experiential, and restorative. It incorporated refined, hand-drawn elements that gave a nod to sailing and the ocean. The display font chosen is worn and tattered which shows the adventure involved in the sailing experience.
